A New Botanical Diary Theme Every Month
New Series Starting October 2026
Why I Created the 3-Step Painting Method
I needed a way to overcome my own painting blocks and overwhelm
Even though I had 2 diplomas in botanical painting, I still felt like I was winging it every time I started a new painting. I wanted to start painting more, and create my own botanical diary inspired by the work of Edith Holden and The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. But I realized it wouldn't be very fun if I felt overwhelmed and uncertain about creating each painting. I wanted to have more fun painting! I decided I needed a system that I could apply to each of my paintings and make everything EASIER.

-
I’m a complete beginner. Is The Watercolor Garden right for me?
Absolutely. The Watercolor Garden is designed to help you build your skills step by step, even if you are completely new to botanical watercolor. Start with the foundational lessons and then move into painting projects as your confidence grows. You can also ask questions and share your work in the private community.
-
Do I need to use the same watercolor paints and supplies as Laura?
Not at all. You can begin with the watercolor supplies you already have. I’ll show you the colours and materials I use, along with alternatives and guidance for building your own palette. Members also have access to my materials recommendations and colour resources.
-
Where should I start?
Explore a new seasonal Botanical Diary theme each month, bringing together watercolor, drawing, artist tips and a companion guide. Follow the seasons, build your botanical art skills and gradually create a Botanical Diary of your own.
-
Do I have to complete the classes in a certain order?
No. The Watercolor Garden is designed to be flexible. You can follow a suggested learning path or simply choose the subjects and classes that inspire you. Everything is self paced, so you can learn when it works for you.
-
What if I can’t start right away?
That’s completely fine. Your access begins when you join, but there are no deadlines for completing the classes. Monthly and Annual memberships remain available while your membership is active, while Lifetime members can return to the included content whenever they like.
-
What’s included with my membership?
All three membership options give you access to the same core experience, including the growing library of full length classes, monthly seasonal Botanical Diary themes and guides, drawing and painting projects, seasonal challenges, and The Watercolor Garden private community.
-
What’s the difference between Monthly, Annual and Lifetime?
The content is the same. You’re simply choosing the payment option that works best for you. Monthly is $29 CAD per month, Annual is $239 CAD per year, and Lifetime is a one time payment that gives you ongoing access without a recurring membership fee.
-
How much time do I need each week?
As much or as little as you have. You can work through a full length class when you have more time or dip into the monthly Botanical Diary theme for a smaller drawing, painting or creative project. Even a little regular practice can help you build your skills and your Botanical Diary over time.
-
Will I receive new content?
Yes. The Watercolor Garden is a growing learning library. New videos, guides, challenges and other botanical art resources are added every month, including seasonal Botanical Diary themes, drawing and painting projects, and practical artist tips. Every membership includes access to all current content, plus all new content added in the future for as long as your membership access continues.
